Lauha vs. Suvarna Shilajit – What's the Difference?

Two premium types of Himalayan shilajit, two different characters. Lauha is strong, intense, and fast-acting. Suvarna is mild, deep, and long-lasting. Which one is right for you?

Shilajit is a natural mineral resin from the Himalayas, but within this category there are important differences in quality and effect. The two most sought-after premium types are Lauha Shilajit and Suvarna Shilajit.

Lauha Shilajit – The "Iron" Shilajit

"Lauha" comes from Sanskrit meaning iron. This type naturally contains a higher proportion of iron and heavy mineral compounds. Darker in color, denser in taste and smell.

  • Color: Dark black-red with metallic tones
  • Taste: Strong, bitter, intense – not for the sensitive
  • Effect: Fast, powerful, energizing
  • Focus: Energy, vitality, circulation
  • Recommended: Shorter, more intense cycles

Suvarna Shilajit – The "Golden" Shilajit

"Suvarna" means gold in Sanskrit. This type has a more balanced mineral profile with emphasis on fulvic and humic acids. Softer texture, milder taste.

  • Color: Dark brown, amber-red in water
  • Taste: Mild, not unpleasant – easily acceptable
  • Effect: Gradual, stable, long-term
  • Focus: Balance, regeneration, nutrient absorption
  • Recommended: Daily, long-term use
